👩‍🍳Recipe Steps

1: Make the Cake Batter

In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until the mixture is very fluffy and light. This is the secret to a soft cake!
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

2: Folding Flour

Sift the flour and baking powder together twice. Add them into the butter mixture. Do not overbeat at this stage.
Add milk if the batter is too thick. Mix gently until smooth.

3: Divide & Color

Divide the batter into 2 equal portions.  Add a drop of pink coloring and green coloring to their 2 portions.

4: Bake

Pour the batter into two greased baking trays (you can bake them separately). Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (340°F) for 30 minutes.

5: Finish

Mix the butter and icing sugar. Once the cake has cooled completely, apply the icing on one layer and place the other layer on top. You can also decorate the top with icing in any way you like if you want.

◆ Now cake is ready! It's time to taste. Don't forget to save some for your family. Eat it and tell me how it tastes. 😍

🔄Variations

- Pandan Ribbon Cake: Add pandan essence to green layer

- Rainbow Ribbon Cake: Use 5–6 thin layers

⚠️Common Mistakes

- Dense Cake: This happens if you over-mix the batter after adding flour. Always fold gently to keep the air in.

- Curdled Batter: If the mixture looks grainy when adding eggs, add a tablespoon of flour and continue beating, it will smooth out.

- Faded Colors: Use high-quality food coloring. If using liquid colors, be careful not to add too much as it can change the texture of the batter.

💡Tips from My Kitchen

- Always use room-temperature ingredients

- Let cake cool completely before slicing for clean layers
